Fox Business producers got a hold of those at Cushing Malloy’s to do a story on a third-generation, family-owned American manufactured business. Since everyone should know, that February is Book Month, Fox Business and Manufacturing Marvels could not pass up the opportunity to do a feature of this 75-year-old company. Owner and Chairman of the Board, Connie Cushing was ecstatic to be asked by Fox to showcase her Ann Arbor, Michigan manufacturing plant.
“Excitement was building in the days leading up to filming,” commented Cushing. The team wanted things to look even better than normal and prepared by cleaning all of the machinery, equipment, and warehouse and did another print run of their previous anniversary shirts.
The broadcast crew were so professional and were very efficient, it filled the entirety of a day and it went by in a flash like one of our conveyors. Many staff members had the opportunity to talk and explain the aspects of what the book manufacturing process entails. One of the show’s production team members on set that day said that this shoot was the second coolest show that he has ever shot. Somehow that made everyone on the Cushing team even more excited and proud of their Michigan-based business.
Many do not know the scale and all the intricate processes of printing books. This show highlighted how personnel and equipment come together to get books into customers’ hands. Cushing said, “she was excited about the feature segment on Fox, but even more excited about how her team represents Cushing Malloy and how they felt an important part of the success.” She was proud of being able to showcase the seven-decade-old company to people around the world.
